- What is your favorite part of class?
Tia’s Response:
My favorite part of class has been the sense of community and support. It’s so refreshing to be in a space where learning about food and health is not only informative but also encouraging. I look forward to each session because I leave feeling more empowered and motivated to make better choices for myself and my family.
- What is the most impactful thing you’ve learned so far? // What was the most important thing you learned in the class?
Tia’s Response:
The most impactful thing I’ve learned so far is the food groups portion plate, learning proper knife skills, and how to really read nutrition labels and understand what’s going into my body. Before this class, I thought I was making healthy choices, but now I realize how much marketing can be misleading. Knowing how to identify what’s truly healthy and the other skills, has given knowledge and tools that equipped me on hours to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve learned.
- Has this class changed the way you approach food? How?
Tia’s Response:
Yes, this class has definitely changed the way I approach food. I no longer eat just to be full—I eat to be fueled. I think more intentionally about what I’m putting on my plate and how it supports my overall wellness, not just physically but emotionally and mentally, too. Also, being aware of having a variety of color, and balance of protein and fiber.
- Can you share a little about your experience/confidence grocery shopping and choosing healthier foods and knowing how to prepare healthier foods?
Tia’s Response:
Before the class, grocery shopping felt overwhelming. Especially for my household. My husband and I have different eating habits. Now, I walk into the store with confidence. I know what to look for, I know how to read labels, and I feel equipped to choose ingredients that nourish my body, as well as for my husband. Plus, the recipes and preparation tips we’ve learned have made cooking feel less like a chore and more like an act of love. My husband is also being introduced to the meals I’ve learned from the nutrition class.
- Are there any new foods you have been introduced to that you weren’t familiar with or didn’t know how to prepare before?
Tia’s Response:
Yes! I was introduced to the health benefits of quinoa, and I had no idea how versatile it is. I also learned how to prepare things like tofu in ways that actually taste good. It’s exciting to explore foods I never gave a second thought to before and realize how delicious and beneficial they can be.
- Has your life changed at all because of the class?
Tia’s Response:
My life has definitely changed since starting the class. I have more energy, I sleep better, and I feel more in control of my health. It’s not just about the food—it’s about feeling empowered to take better care of myself and my family on every level. - (What are some improvements: Easier to shop? Cook? Budget? Are you feeling better?)
Tia’s Response:
Things have gotten so much easier! Shopping is less stressful because I know what I need, cooking is quicker because I’ve learned time-saving tips, and I’m actually staying within my budget better because I plan ahead and waste less food. And yes, I’m feeling better—both physically and emotionally.
- Would you recommend this class to others? // Do you think more people should be able to take this class?
Tia’s Response:
Absolutely, I would recommend this class to others. I’ve been sharing the material with another family member, and she’s been enjoying it. Everyone deserves access to this kind of life-changing information. It’s not just a class—it’s a step toward a healthier, more empowered life, and I think more people should be able to experience that.
