SNAP-Ed Supports SNAP Participants to Shop at Farmer’s Markets

“As the Director of Programs at a nonprofit organization that operates both hunger relief initiatives and farmers markets, I’ve had the privilege of working with SNAP-Ed for the past 10 years. Together, we developed a program called Market Tours, designed to support SNAP customers through personalized tours of our farmers markets. This program helps participants feel comfortable and confident using their food benefits, while also learning how to choose, cook, and enjoy fresh produce. Since launching in 2019, we’ve expanded the program to serve over 600 participants annually, offering culturally relevant nutrition education in English, Spanish, and Russian. Market Tours has had a profound impact, equipping SNAP clients with lasting knowledge and greater self-sufficiency. This work would not be possible without the expertise and support of SNAP-Ed—they’ve been an invaluable partner every step of the way.”
