SNAP-Ed Program Helps to Improve Failing School

SNAP-Ed has been an integral part of the Lacoochee Elementary School Garden club for the entire time I have been associated with the school, thirteen years. When I started volunteering at Lacoochee it was rated as a failing school. It is now a C-rated school, and I am convinced that SNAP-Ed has a played a major role in that amazing success story. Snap-Ed, UFL and Ms. Villa T. have made a lifelong impact on Lacoochee Elementary and the surrounding community. Nutrition classes taught by, Ms. Villa T, UF/IFAS Extension, at LES has encouraged garden club members to select, plant and grow their choices of vegetables based on their nutritional benefits. Let’s build on this success and find the funding to keep America thriving.”
