SNAP-Ed Partnership Creates Picture Recipe Book
“Our garden worked with DINE to create a picture-based recipe book that did not require literate reading to use. It featured vegetables we grow in the garden so community members coming to the pantries we partner with could learn how to prepare unfamiliar vegetables. It was very popular with our community neighbors and other pantries. Families began to look for and ask for the vegetables featured in the recipes. Without the DINE program, these vegetables might have been wasted, the families would not have learned healthy ways to prepare them and we the growers would have been frustrated.
