K-5th Grade Students in Florida

“As the Green Team leader at Sally Ride Elementary, I have witnessed firsthand how your education program has transformed our school community. Our students, from kindergarten to fifth grade, are not just learning about healthy eating; they are actively engaging with it. Many of our Explorers have developed a newfound appreciation for fruits and vegetables, incorporating them into their daily meals at home. Families are now more aware of the nutrients in their food, and we’ve seen parents excitedly share stories of trying out new recipes together. Our school garden serves as an outdoor classroom where students learn about sustainability and the joy of growing their own food. This program has fostered a culture of health and wellness that extends beyond the classroom and into our families, creating a ripple effect of positive change in our community.
Our school has been recognized in the Orange County and in the state of Florida as a green school in the last 2 years. Last summer we were nationally recognized with the Green Ribbon in Washington for our school green culture thanks to programs like this.”
