Growing Together Nebraska
In 2024, SNAP-Ed in Dakota County utilized $1540.48 of SNAP-Ed funding to support their Growing Together Nebraska (GTN) project. This community-based program strengthens the local food system, reduces food insecurity, and empowers individuals and families with low incomes through access to local, healthy, and nutritious produce. An investment of $1,540 of SNAP-Ed funds in this community, along with the engagement of 129 volunteers, serving 1,757 hours of community service work, helped produce $36,816 worth of locally grown and donated produce. The 2024 budget for the Dakota County GTN project and the produce distributed, aligned with average dollars invested in this program and similar outcomes, for the past several years. Dakota County is just one of many counties across Nebraska and hundreds across the nation, doing this type of work. The Growing Together project turns small investments of SNAP-Ed funding into substantial outcomes in the community by increasing access to fresh locally grown produce and providing education with the goal of improving health outcomes for all. #SNAPedworks
