Developmental Disability Service Provider
“I work for a non-profit developmental disability service provider. We provide services to people who experience an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD). Our services are aimed at helping our participants become independent, thriving members of their community. Many of our participants live independently and hold down a job. One of our programs has a partnership with the Nebraska Extension office on Health and Nutrition. For the last several years, Nebraska Extension has taught class that focus on making simple, healthy recipes. We have received so much positive feedback. Many of our participants and their families have shared stories of them coming home and trying out the recipes that they learned to make earlier in the day. We have witnessed the direct positive impact this has made in people’s lives. They are empowered to cook healthy meals for themselves.”
