SNAP-Ed Support Rural Alabama Communities

“I work for Auburn University on a federally funded project that leverages the extensive network of SNAP-Ed educators and agents to mutually benefit both programs and increase impact through collaboration. SNAP-Ed is a valued and trusted resource in many rural communities in Alabama and plays an important role in facilitating community projects that support healthy and active lifestyles. Alabama Extension has many examples of this, particularly in the past 10 years of SNAP-Ed’s shift to include policy, systems, and environmental approaches to support direct education efforts. The proposed elimination of SNAP-Ed stands to knock rural Alabama communities back from the foundations they have built in creating healthier and thriving communities.”
