Alabama Public School Teacher
“I am a public school teacher. I have taught first and third grade. In each grade level, SNAP-Ed has made tremendous contributions to our school and our students. Mrs. Ginger routinely visits our school. She has visited dressed in full costume as the “Cat in the Hat” during Read Across America week to share a gardening themed story with students and followed up with an outdoor planting activity. She has also delivered seeds, soil, and other materials for planting to give our students more hands on experiences that have helped them learn about keeping their bodies healthy.
Mr. Josh visited my classroom throughout the third quarter of this past school year to facilitate the Body Quest Program provided by SNAP-Ed. My students thoroughly enjoyed each session and gained invaluable knowledge related to proper nutrition.
I work in a Title I school in a high poverty area. Without SNAP-Ed and the resources the program offers, many of my students would not have the opportunity to learn about their environment or how to take care of their bodies.”
