A Pennsylvania School Teacher
“I had the opportunity to witness Miss Allie from a Penn State SNAP-Ed outreach program come into my son’s classroom. She read informational books and gave them experiences with foods that some kids may never get to come across at home. My son’s favorite project was planting a black bean plant which he still cherishes and cares for every day at home. I feel like this program is beneficial for many kids because it helps them learn about a variety of healthy foods and gives them an in person experience which will hopefully encourage them to try different foods they wouldn’t normally give a chance. Getting to feel and taste foods at school and making it fun gets some families one step closer to expanding preferences for the younger generation. Plus it was great for kids who already love a variety of foods like my son because he enjoyed every single yummy dish’ that was brought in and it gave him something different and unique to experience during the school day.”
